8:30 p.m. Boise Rescue Mission Ministries' 50th Anniversary! Fifty years ago, in 1958, a small group of people concerned for the homeless men in Boise started a Mission to help feed and shelter them. From a small soup kitchen and a few cots, the Boise Rescue Mission has grown to three facilities in Boise and Nampa which serve over seven hundred meals a day to the hungry, provide over 240 people with a bed each night, and change hundreds of lives through the New Life Drug and Alcohol Addiction Recovery Program. It is the people of the Treasure Valley whose compassion has kept the Mission here for the last fifty years, and we invite you to join with us as we celebrate what God has done in those years, and look forward to fifty more!
September 20 5:00 p.m. at the Jordan Ballroom at BSU Annual Banquet The Mission will be celebrating the 50th anniversary at our annual banquet. Testimonies, good food, fellowship, and stories of the Mission's past will all be part of the evening's celebration! Look for your invitation in the mail in August and register early - seating will be limited!

Here is one of the guests in front of the Front Street Mission, where the Mission had moved in 1972.
Guests at dinnertime at the Mission's dining room.
Though the majority of Mission Guests were men, there were a few women and children to visit.
John Drzweicki was the Mission Director from 1971 to 1996. He is shown here accepting a donation at the old Front Street Mission.
The Women's Auxiliary was a group of local ladies who got together to help the Mission.
Charles Bradshaw was one of the Mission's founders and its first director - he depended on God to get the Mission through the tough times, and we still do today! |
